Alpenrose
The Alpenrose Velodrome is legendary in cycling circles. Built on private dairyland in Portland, Oregon for the 1967 National Championships, it’s one of the most venerable and challenging outdoor Olympic-size race tracks in America and the epicenter of the local cycling community. I was privileged to help create a series of limited-edition posters in 2020 for the Oregon Bike Racing Association to support this historic athletic venue and inspire a whole new generation of racers.
Art direction and design that feels both fresh and timeless is not easy. And yet John masterfully does it in a way that feels effortless, although nothing could be farther from the truth. He approaches every assignment with passion and purpose, while thoughtfully considering every detail until arriving at a solution that elevates and inspires.
