SAY: | The Stuttering Association for the Young
SAY: The Stuttering Association for the Young is a national non-profit organization that empowers, educates, and supports young people who stutter and the world that surrounds them. In 2013, I was approached by Taro Alexander, the founder of SAY: in NYC, to rename and rebrand what was formerly known as Our Time. In the summer of 2013, I renamed the organization SAY: and developed the brand’s manifesto, look, tone and feel at all of its touchpoints. I have continued to work with SAY: to this day, helping to promote awareness of this remarkable organization, and young people who stutter, find their voices in this world.
From its inception nearly 20 years ago, SAY: has grown and continues to be recognized nationally and internationally for its work with young people who stutter, garnering heavy support from the celebrity world of entertainment, business and sports, who enthusiastically offer their support, hosting fund-raising events. Perenial supporters such as Paul Rudd, George Springer of The Houston Astros, Michael Gilchrist of The Dallas Mavericks and John Sculley, former CEO of Apple Computer, as well as our current president, Joe Biden, are among the myriad of supporters who lend their time to help young people whos stutter, find their voice in the world. What Taro Alexander began as a small venue for voice in NY, has risen to the heights of ringing the opening bell at Nasdaq.
“Working with John is pure magic. John revolutionized our organization. We first worked with John when we wanted to do a major rebranding. We were looking for a new name and a new look and feel. John came up with SAY because he got in his heart and soul what our organization is all about. He understood that every young person who stutters has the right and the need to SAY what’s in their heart. Every single time I work with John, I am more and more impressed by his artistry and generosity.
